A Bit About Us

Phoenix Perennials and Specialty Plants is a multi-award-winning, destination retail and mail order nursery offering one of the largest selections of perennials in Canada with over 4000 different garden plants each year, much of which we grow ourselves.

We focus on cutting edge new cultivars, garden stalwarts, and the rare and unusual with a notably deep focus on perennials including hellebores, hardy ground orchids, and shade plants, plus succulents, rare bulbs, hardy subtropicals, and rare and unusual edibles. We also carry great selections of vines, shrubs, unusual trees, groundcovers, grasses, ferns, dwarf conifers, houseplants, air plants (Tillandsia) and much more.

In all we offer one of the most diverse and exciting selection of garden plants in the country. Come see why so many people walk into our nursery for the first time and describe it as a “candy store”.

Guarantee

WE GUARANTEE OUR PLANTS TO BE HEALTHY AND TRUE TO NAME.

The Phoenix Perennials guarantee is based on our desire for gardening success for our customers balanced with the customer’s responsibility to provide appropriate care for their plants and either ask our advice or research for themselves when they have questions.

We guarantee the health of our plants for three months from time of purchase. If there is a problem with your plant at the time of purchase that problem will most likely manifest itself within the first three months after purchase. We are happy to replace plants up to three months from purchase with receipt if their demise seems potentially related to the original health of the plants when purchased or at least not directly attributable to conditions beyond our control. We are not obliged to replace a plant if conditions beyond our control seem likely to be the cause of their death such as extreme climatic or soil conditions, wildlife or other mechanical damage, or a lack of appropriate care. We do not guarantee plants over the winter since winter losses are most likely due to weather conditions rather than the health of the plants when purchased.

Exceptions: At Phoenix we carry many specialty and unusual plants of a more expert nature. These include but are not limited to Arisaema, hardy ground orchids, Meconopsis, and other rare plants. When purchasing these plants the customer is expected to research and understand their cultivation and to ask for advice to enhance their success. These plants may not be guaranteed.

Should you have a concern about the health of a plant, please contact us right away. Do not immediately dig up the plant and bring it back in. The best course of action is to take a digital picture and email it to us. Cultural issues can often be corrected or we can educate you about aspects of the plant’s behaviour that you do not know about yet.

You must let us know within three months of the purchase of the plant if you are experiencing a problem. Beyond this point we assume that your plants are fine and that you are happy. We want you to have the best plants and we want you to be successful so please be in touch if you need our help and advice.
