Description
Thaumatophyllum spruceanum, previously known as T. goeldii and Philodendron goeldii, is a highly sought-after tropical plant prized for its unusual form. Its habit is similar to that of a Schefflera. The unique, dark, glossy-green foliage starts out with triangular leaves, as it matures, the leaves split into a unique semi-circle pattern of leaflets. Average size is 2 to 3 feet tall with a wider spread. Best grown in bright, indirect light. Allow chunky, well-drained soil to dry out between watering, then fully saturate. Flowers form a spadix and spathe but are insignificant. The fruit is edible and sweet with a flavour reminscent of pineapple and banana. Will ultimately develop a distinct trunk! Excellent as a potted house plant. Photo credit Wikipedia.
