Description
Solanum tuberosum ‘Violet Queen’ is beautiful, versatile, tasty gourmet potato with a long, oval shape with purple skin and purple-veined flesh. Said to be based from ancient Peruvian varieties. It gives off a smell of red beets when cooked and retains its colour. Very high in antioxidants with high yield capacity. Great for boiling, steaming, and baking. Loose soils are preferable for higher production in the ground or large containers. Plant in early spring while soil is still cool. Hilling up potato plants will increase yield. Matures mid season.
