Description
Silene caroliniana var. wherryi ‘Short and Sweet’, known as Carolina campion or catchfly, is a low, mounding wildflower native to eastern and central North America. Five-petaled, pinwheel-shaped, rosy-pink flowers emerge in late spring atop sticky flowering stems above tufts of narrow, lance-shaped basal foliage. Mature clumps can reach 8 inches tall with an 18 inch spread. Great in rock gardens, in the front of borders, along pathways, as a ground cover, and flowing over retaining walls. An important early nectar source for pollinators. Deer resistant.
