Description
Schizachryium scoparium ‘Sandhill’ is a little bluestem grass named after the sandhill crane. It forms upright mounds of extra wide gray-blue to powder blue blades take on coppery to amber hues in the fall. Plants usually maintain their upright form and glowing colours through most of winter. Fluffy seed clusters emerge in late summer on stems up to 4.5 feet tall. Excellent as a specimen in the border and as the thrill in a container. Low maintenance and drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant. A cross Canada native from southeastern BC to Nova Scotia.
