Description
Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Chameleon’ is a compact, ornamental perennial grass known as little bluestem or prairie beard grass. Variegated foliage of green with white margins arches gracefully to 18 inches tall topped with flowers to two feet. As weather cools, the grass blades develop a flush of reddish pink and light purple offering extra colour interest from into fall. Excellent as a specimen in the border and as the thrill in a container. Low maintenance and drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant. A cross Canada native from southeastern BC to Nova Scotia.
