Description
Salvia greggii ‘Amethyst Lips’, known as autumn sage, is a heat tolerant, sub-shrub with aromatic foliage and nectar-rich flowers and the purple version of ‘Hot Lips’. Lightly fragrant, two-lipped, bi-colour blooms of wine-purple and white bloom continuously throughout the season though flowers are usually all purple in late spring and fall and bicolour in the summer except when they can go all white during the hottest weeks of the year. Plants will reach 18-24 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Prune to shape in early spring. Makes a super easy and appealing container plant for the patio and in the mixed sunny border and pollinator gardens with colour from late spring until frost. Plant in full sun in hot dry spots with well-drained soils. Hummingbird and pollinator magnet. Deer resistant.
