Description
Rubus parviflorus, the thimbleberry or redcap, is an attractive BC native with large, light green, palmate leaves, large white flowers with yellow centres, and dome-shaped, raspberry-like fruits. The edible berries are sweet and enjoyable. They are popular with birds and other wildlife and the flowers attract native bees and sometimes butterflies and hummingbirds. Plants are a larval host for the yellow-banded sphinx moth. Thimbleberry spreads by underground rhizomes. Care should be taken to plant it where its spread is desired or where it will be contained by hardscape features. Photo: Wikipedia.
