Description
Rhododendron Bloombux ‘Magenta’ is a relatively new hybrid cross between R. hirsutum and R. micranthum that tolerates a wider soil pH than most. A compact, dwarf, evergreen shrub that grows to just 24-36 inches tall and wide. The foliage is dense, glossy green and ovate providing beautiful contrast to its clusters of dark pink buds that open into small, trumpet-shaped, rich pink blooms with light pink centres for a bicolour effect. Responds well to pruning after flowering. Slow growing. A good alternative to boxwood hedging. Use as a border for beds, understorey plantings, as a low hedge, at the front or middle of the border, and in containers. Hummingbird and pollinator attractor.
