Description
Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Blackfield’ is a long-blooming perennial for the summer and fall garden with wands of black-red buds opening to deep red flowers that bloom for months on end atop 2-3 foot stems. The rich green foliage is produced in a vigorous yet clumping mound. It is known as red bistort or mountain fleece. Use it as an anchor to hold a reliable show of colour in the sun to part shade border all through the summer into fall. You can also mass plant it as a tall ground cover. Popular with various pollinators. Deer resistant.
