Description
Penstemon pinifolius SteppeSuns ‘Sunset Glow’, true to its name, grows in low bushy mounds covered in extremely narrow, pine needle-like leaves. But it is the firecracker-like flowers that get all the attention. In late spring through summer the plant is covered in tubular flowers that are warm orange and that will draw every hummingbird from miles around. Easy to grow in hot, dry, sunny spots. Its needle-like foliage and compact, bushy mounds make for a great fit in the rock or alpine garden, in small spaces, and containers or mass plant to use as a ground cover. Usually evergreen, developing a woody base with time. Pollinator attractor. Deer, rabbit and drought resistant.
