Description
Penstemon digitalis ‘Blackbeard’ is a tall, cold-hardy, low-maintenance beardtongue bred for its attractive, dark purple stems and dark purple, almost black foliage, a fuller and more refined habit with consistent, vibrant flower power. It will reach 28 to 34 inches tall with a 24 inch spread displaying multiple vertical flower spikes of tubular lilac-purple flowers with white interiors followed by dark burgundy seed pods. Drought and salt tolerant once established. Great for vertical and aesthetic appeal in mixed beds, cottage and rock gardens. Plant in drifts for impressive displays! Hummingbird and pollinator magnet. Deer resistant. A Canadian native from Ontario to Nova Scotia.
