Description
Pachysandra procumbens, the Allegheny spurge, has fragrant, white flower spikes in spring, later becoming camouflaged by a new flush of gorgeous, crisp green foliage. Leaves have a scalloped margin and take on an attractive pale silver mottling. A wonderful low-growing perennial ground cover native to the southeastern US and related to the much more common Pachysandra terminalis, the Japanese spurge. Herbaceous from zone 6 down but semi-evergreen to evergreen in zones 7-9. Established plants can tolerate dry shade.
