Description
Olea europaea ‘Haas Improved Manzanillo’ is an improved form of ‘Manzanillo’, the most important Spanish olive for both oil and fruit. The large, spherical fruit have smaller pits yielding more flesh. The foliage is also more finely textured with a dense, arching, compact, rounded habit. Blooms and fruits slightly earlier. Use for green or black table olives or for high quality olive oil that is very sweet and aromatic. The fruit are medium to large with delicious, meaty flesh. Cold and drought tolerant. Possibly partially self-fertile but best to plant with another pollenizer like ‘Frantoio’, ‘Leccino’, ‘Sevillano’, ‘Pendolino’, or ‘Arbequina’.
