Description
Morus alba is the mulberry famed as the food source for the silk worm. They can have the leaves, but us humans will take the fruit which can be white, pink or black in this species. ‘Oscar’ is said to be one of the finest tasting of all mulberries. The early-ripening fruit can also be eaten when red when they taste like raspberries or when black when they offer their rich, blackberry-like flavour. The fruit are also popular with birds and other wildlife. Mulberries are fast-growing trees.
