Description
Meehania cordata is known as Meehan’s mint or creeping mint. It is a lovely eastern US native that would make a good substitute for Ajuga or Lamium in shadier garden situations. It grows as a ground cover with long, trailing stems that root in as they go forming lovely green mats of textured foliage topped in late spring and early summer with masses of lilac-blue to pink flowers with spotted throats. Tolerant of both moist and dry shade. Use it in the woodland garden, along pathways, and at the front of the shady border. Pollinator attractor. Deer resistant.
