Description
Mahonia repens is a very adaptable, native, woodland ground cover with bright, canary yellow blooms in late winter to early spring. Wildlife enjoys the blue berries that follow. Leaves can take on tints of red and purple in winter. Tolerates rich to poor soil. Drought tolerant once established. Excellent for use as a small to large scale ground cover in a woodland garden, or in a small shrub grouping. Plants spread slowly by underground rhizomes. Provides effective erosion control for slopes.
