Description
Lycium barbarum, also known as the goji berry, is touted as a super food packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is a deciduous shrub that blooms with purple flowers in late spring to early summer. The bright orange-red goji berries ripen from August to October. Crimson Star (‘Ningxia #1’) is a popular variety grown commercially in northern China. It produces good crops of tasty, large, bright red fruit even on young plants. They can be eaten fresh or dried or used in baking.
