Description
Liriope spicata is a grass-like plant known as creeping lilyturf with tufted, evergreen, grass-like, arching, mid to dark green leaves spreading at a slow to moderate rate into large colonies which make an excellent ground cover and no mow lawn alternative. Short spikes of tightly packed lavender flowers rise within or just poking above the foliage in late summer. Shiny black berries persist into winter. Tolerant of most soil types, heat and humidity. Also great for erosion control on slopes, in mass plantings, along pathways, at the edge of borders, and in containers. Popular with many pollinators. Deer resistant.
