Description
The sea buckthorn or sea berry (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a super hardy, super healthy, and super delicious berry for juice and preserves. The orange berries of ‘Hergo’ ripen in August which can produce 30 pounds per plant. The tart and pungent berries can be eaten fresh but are usually juiced and diluted with up to 70% water and a little sugar for an amazing and healthy juice filled with vitamin C, A, and E. You can also make jams and jellies. The fruit of sea buckthorn has seven times the vitamin C of citrus! Wind pollinated. Plant a male plant, such as ‘Pollmix’, nearby. Very tolerant of cold, high winds, coastal conditions, and poor soils. Photo: Wikipedia.
