Description
Galax urceolata is an evergreen shade perennial known as beetleweed, wand flower, and coltsfoot. It has leathery, shiny, heart-shaped leaves 2-5 inches wide that turn to wonderful colours of bronze and red in the winter. The dense, feathery, white flower spikes appear in late spring and early summer above the foliage. Plants will slowly spread into a dense, ground-covering colony especially in cool sites with evenly moist soils rich in organic matter. Great in the shade or woodland garden, along pathways, on slopes, and planted under shrubs and trees. The flowers will attract native bees.
