Description
Euphorbia Blackbird has been and remains one of the best burgundy-black-leaved spurges for the garden. The burgundy tone differs from other cultivars in being a cool black — rather than a warm burgundy or maroon — though the new foliage is tinted red. The flower heads are comprised of dark burgundy-black bracts and contrasting yellow flowers on red stems. Tolerant of part shade but the best leaf colour is produced in full sun. Use at the front or middle of the border, in rock gardens and in containers. Flowering lasts for months from early spring to early summer. Cut back each flowering stalk to the base when the bracts begin to whither. Remember: the stems that have not flowered yet will be your flowers for next spring. Deer and rabbit resistant. Drought tolerant. Cultivar name: ‘Nothowlee’.
