Description
Citrus x sinensis ‘Smith Red’ is a nearly seedless blood orange with beautiful red flesh that is dripping with juice that is both sweet and acidic. The rind is orange with a red blush. It apparently arose as a branch sport on a regular ‘Valencia’ orange. Blood oranges require a winter chill to colour the fruit and develop sweetness. All of our citrus are grafted onto C-35 citrange, trifoliate orange, or other semi-dwarfing rootstock which confer good hardiness and production while reducing overall tree size.
