Description
Aster laevis, now known scientifically as Symphyotrichum laeve, is a North American native. ‘Bluebird’ has clusters of small, strikingly blue to lavender-blue, daisy-like flowers with yellow centres that perch on tall stems to three feet high. After flowering, small seed heads appear and remain attractive in the winter garden. The foliage is lance-shaped, smooth, and blue-green and looks great all season long. Cold hardy and easy to maintain. Use in the border, cottage, butterfly and native gardens, plant en masse for a spectacular effect. Bird and pollinator attractor.
