Description
Alstroemeria ‘Summer Rose’ is a cold hardy Peruvian lily able to withstand zone 6. Beautiful glowing pink petals are contrasted with yellow throats marked with dark burgundy flecks on 2-3 foot tall stems. Plants will bloom continuously from early summer to frost. Modern cultivars are mainly clumping to slowly spreading but will not be invasive. Wonderful in the mixed border, in containers, and long lasting in vases. Pull stems instead of cutting to encourage a quicker reflush. In colder zones, mulch clumps with a foot of fallen leaves or grow in pots and protect in a frost-free location for winter. Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant.
