Description
Alstroemeria psittacina ‘Variegata’ is a beautiful Peruvian or parrot lily with long seasons of interest with white and green variegated leaves topped with smallish red, white and green flowers with black flecks on stems 2-3 feet tall. The petals are held in a more tubular shape than the more open hybrids. Possibly hardy to zone 6b. Mainly clumping to slowly spreading but will not be invasive. Wonderful in the mixed border, in containers, and long lasting in vases. Pull stems instead of cutting to encourage a quicker reflush. In colder zones, mulch clumps with a foot of fallen leaves or grow in pots and protect in a frost-free location for winter. Attracts pollinators. Deer resistant.
