Description
Agapanthus ‘Black Buddha’ (aka ‘Black Buddhist’) is a hardy lily-of-the-Nile with some of the darkest cobalt blue flowers emerging from black buds atop upright, near-black stems. Darker stripes down the centre of each petal add extra detail. Attractive black seed pods follow. Flowering stems will reach 24-36 inches tall on plants 24 inches wide. Thrives in full sun and fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Awesome in the perennial border, grown in swaths, and in containers (where many gardeners find Agapanthus easier to bloom). A great cut flower. Mulch each winter with fallen leaves or protect above freezing in its pot. Hummingbird and bee attractor. Deer resistant.
