Zephyranthes candida or white rain lily is an amaryllis relative with icy white, star-like flowers centred with yellow.
Zephyranthes candida is a rain lily from the Rio de la Plata region in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. It is an easy to grow species with narrow foliage and beautiful icy white flowers centred with yellow that emerge in late summer and fall. There can sometimes be a pink flush to the buds and newly opened flowers usually fading to white. Hardy to zone 7 with protection of a winter mulch. In colder regions bring pots into a frost-free area and allow to go dormant until spring.
