The foliage is small, ovate, evergreen and glossy and tinted with red when young maturing to dark green. The pink to white, urn-shaped flowers give way to showy, edible dark blue to near-black berries in late summer. Self-fertile. Use as an informal hedge, specimen, and in pots on the patio. Drought tolerant once established. Tolerant of full shade but may not flower and fruit.Hummingbird, bee, and butterfly attractor. Deer resistant.
