Vaccinium ovatum ‘Scarlet Ovation’

Vaccinium ovatum 'Scarlet Ovation' is a stunning selection of our evergreen huckleberry with red new foliage and tasty fruit.

Vaccinium ovatum ‘Scarlet Ovation’ is a great selection of our native evergreen huckleberry. The foliage is small, ovate, evergreen and glossy but when it first emerges it is a dramatic bronze-red gradually fading to dark green in the summer. Easy to grow and compact to 2-3 feet tall and wide. Pink, urn-shaped flowers give way to showy, edible dark blue to near-black berries in late summer. Self-fertile. Use as an informal hedge, specimen, and in pots on the patio. Hummingbird and butterfly attractor. Deer resistant.
