Tulipa-Historic ‘Duc Van Tol Violet’

Tulipa 'Duc Van Tol Violet' is a beautiful deep purple-pink historical tulip with white edges dating back to 1700.

If you love botanical tulips, you will love the Duc Van Tol cultivars with their short stature to about 6 inches and their larger flowers that are pointed in bud and cup-shaped when open. They are historical tulips among the oldest ever to be raised in the Netherlands (likely from T. schrenkii), some dating back to 1595. They are extremely early blooming in March and April and can be long-lived in good sunny locations. ‘Violet’ is a beautiful deep purple-pink with white edges dating back to 1700. Hybrid tulips can persist in the garden for many years. Afterall, they rebloom each year in the fields of the Netherlands. Provide full sun where bulbs aren’t shaded by other plants, fertilize with bulb food as soon as they emerge in spring, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
