Tulipa ‘Red Dress’ has gorgeous, ruffled, lipstick red flowers with a shimmer of lavender across the petals. It is a crown or coronet type tulip, a new class of tulips introduced in 2018. These flowers have strong, thick, leathery petals that are ruffled and curved. When in bud they look like a crown. Hybrid tulips can persist in the garden for many years. Afterall, they rebloom each year in the fields of the Netherlands. Provide full sun where bulbs aren’t shaded by other plants, fertilize with bulb food as soon as they emerge in spring, and allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.
