The cacao or cocoa tree is a beautiful evergreen, tropical plant with large, dark green leaves. the small white, yellow and pink flowers are produced in clusters right on the trunk. They are self-fertile though the pollination with another clone will give better fruit set. The large fruiting pods are yellow aging to red and are filled with “beans” that are dried, roasted, and ground into cocoa powder ready to make hot chocolate or your favourite desserts!
