S. pierrei) is a cool novelty houseplant that grows as a small vine with rounded leaves with intricate veining from a bulb-like woody caudex that resembles a potato or jicama sitting atop the soil. Foliage often goes dormant in winter but you’re left with the caudex to enjoy. It has yellow flowers that often sprout in spring before the foliage emerges. Easy to grow indoors or out in shady, warm conditions coming inside as a houseplant in winter. Very long-lived.
