Sophora prostrata ‘Little Baby’

Sophora prostrata 'Little Baby', dwarf kowhai, is a small evergreen shrub with wiry branches and yellow-orange flowers.

Sophora prostrata ‘Little Baby’, commonly known as dwarf or prostrate kowhai, is a small, upright, evergreen shrub prized for its wiry, zig-zag or “divaricated” branching habitat, its adorable, tiny pinnate leaves, and its yellow-orange, beaked, pea-like flowers in fall. A tough plant that tolerates a range of conditions including drought and wind. Potentially hardy in coastal BC but overwintering in a frost-free location is safer. A natural to grow in a container or as a bonsai. Also has potential as a houseplant. Untrimmed, plants will grow to four feet tall and three feet wide. Deer resistant.
