Solanum tuberosum ‘Innovator’ is a popular variety in Europe now making inroads in North America. Tubers are medium to large in size, oblong in shape with skin that is rough and tan in colour. The flesh is creamy yellow and is ideal for frying. Loose soils are preferable for higher production in the ground or large containers, however, this variety also grows well in light clay soils. Plant in early spring while soil is still cool. Hilling up potato plants increases yield. A mid-early variety taking just 110 days to harvest.
