Solanum tuberosum ‘Chieftain’ (Organic)
Solanum tuberosum 'Chieftain' is an oval to oblong tuber with red skin and white flesh that matures mid-season.

Solanum tuberosum ‘Chieftain’ is a popular and attractive red-skinned variety with white fleshed, oval to oblong tubers that mature mid-season. Bred in Iowa back in 1957, it has stood the test of time offering adaptability to different growing conditions and great yields. Loose soils are preferable for higher production in the ground or large containers, however, this variety also grows well in light clay soils. Plant in early spring while soil is still cool. Hilling up potato plants increases yield. A mid-early variety taking just 110 days to harvest.
