Purple and greenish white flowers held on arching stems followed by red fruits turning to purple.

From creeping rhizomes rise arching stems of alternating long elliptic leaves, terminating in a panicle of purple and greenish white flowers in May to June, followed by fleshy red fruits which turn purple with age. Requires partial shade and moist well-drained soil. An outstanding and dramatic large perennial species.
