Silene caroliniana var. wherryi ‘Short and Sweet’, known as Carolina campion or catchfly is a low mounding wildflower native to eastern and central North America. Single, rosy-pink flowers emerge in late spring atop sticky flowering stems and tufts of narrow, lance-shaped basal foliage. Mature clumps can reach up to 8 inches tall with an 18 inch spread. Great in rock gardens, in the front of borders and along paths and flowing over retaining walls. An important early nectar source for pollinators.
