Saxifraga x geum
This is a natural hybrid between S. umbrosa and S. hirsuta that occurs where the parent species’ ranges overlap in the Pyrenees. S. x geum forms dark evergreen carpets of open rosettes with spoon-like leaves formed of long petioles (leaf stems) and rounded leaf blades with serrated edges. Reddish stems give rise to white flowers spotted with red in summer. Enjoys damp, shady conditions.
