Sarracenia flava var. cuprea
Sarracenia flava var. cuprea is one of the most dramatic pitcher plants with tall, lime pitchers marked with red and copper.
Sarracenia flava var. cuprea is a naturally occuring colour variant (often referred to as copper top pitcher plant) of one of the most dramatic of species. It has large, lime green pitchers often to three feet tall with red veins and copper flushing in the pitcher and hood. It makes a dramatic specimen. The flowers are golden yellow and resemble flying saucers. They appear in spring before the new pitchers. By the end of each season the tall pitchers will be filled to the brim with dead flies, mosquitoes, and other insects. Yum! Yum! Our plants are blooming size with mature pitchers.
