Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis Winter Gem

Sarcococca Winter Gem has red buds and sepals which give the fragrant blooms a bicolour effect.

Dwarf sweet box (Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis) is an upright, compact, evergreen shrub with shiny dark green leaves and a slowly suckering habit. In winter and early spring it produces small, feathery, white flowers with an intense, heady fragrance that will fill the garden. Winter Gem has the added bonus of excellent performance and a long bloom period as well as red buds and sepals which give the blooms a bicolour effect. Black fruit follows later in the season. Use as a low informal hedge, as a ground cover or as an evergreen element at your front entrance. A nectar and pollen source for native bees and honeybees.
