Sanguinaria canadensis is an elegant woodland plant native to most of North America east of the Rockies. In spring, pure white, star-like flowers centred with yellow stamens arise from the soil clasped by the interesting leaves. It is a star of the spring woodland garden. The common bloodroot arises from the juice extracted from the root of the plant which is bright red. Plants are nursery-grown.
