Rubus idaeus ‘Joan J’

Rubus idaeus 'Joan J' is an extra hardy everbearing raspberry that produces large, firm, delicious pinkish-red berries.

Rubus idaeus ‘Joan J’ is an award winning, everbearing, extra hardy raspberry that produces heavy crops of large, firm, conical berries that are pinkish-red in colour with excellent flavour. Canes are thornless. Expect two crops per season on each biannual cane. Fruit ripens first on old wood and then again in late summer on the current year’s canes. The spiny canes reach 4-6 feet long and may require some support. Requires organically rich, moist but well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Yield will be higher in full sun. Remove fruited canes after fruiting to encourage new canes. Enjoy fresh, frozen, canned, and baked. Attracts bees and wildlife.
