Rhododendron ‘Nova Zembla’ features large, rounded trusses of frilly, red, funnel-shaped flowers with darker markings on the upper lobes. The flower colour is more deep pink in sunnier conditions. Offers a dense, upright habit with a spreading branch structure up to 5 feet tall and wide and evergreen leaves. Responds well to pruning after flowering. Benefits from evenly moist, well-drained, slightly acidic-based soil and mulch. Use as an informal hedge, accent, foundation planting, in mass plantings, and for winter interest. Hummingbird and pollinator attractor. Deer and rabbit resistant.
