Quercus garryana
Our native Garry Oak is most commonly seen in the rainshadow areas of Vancouver Island including Victoria. It is a beautiful, heavy-limbed medium-sized tree that often grows more short and contorted in dry rocky outcrops at low elevations. The leaves are deeply lobed and light green. The bark is light grey with thick furrows and ridges. The form is beautiful in both summer and winter.
