Prunus Romance ‘Romeo’
Prunus fruticosa x cerasus 'Romeo' is a dwarf late harvesting cherry tree/shrub with dark red fruit.
Prunus fruticosa x cerasus ‘Romeo’ is a self-fertile, dwarf cherry tree with great production of nice sized, dark red, 4 gram fruit that is high in citric acid and sugar and just as sweet as a conventional cherry. The Romance series was developed by the University of Saskatchewan from hybrid crosses of the European sour cherry and the Mongolian cherry. Cultivars are selected for their fruit quality and size, super hardiness, and pest and disease resistance. The fruit is nearly as sweet as classic cherries. Harvest in August for fresh eating, baking, and canning. Grows to just over 6 feet tall.
