Polystichum polyblepharum is a bold, textural, evergreen fern known as the Japanese tassel fern. It has an elegant, vase-shaped form with spreading, lance-shaped, lustrous dark green fronds with finely divided and overlapping pinnae. New fronds are covered in golden hairs. As fiddleheads unfurl, they flip backward temporarily resembling a tassel. Grows 2-3 feet tall and wide. Perfect for the shady mixed border and under shrubs. Use cut fronds in bouquets.
