Phyllostachys nigra ‘Henon’

Want a giant bamboo forest? Here's your plant: Phyllostachys nigra 'Henon'.

Phyllostachys nigra ‘Henon’ is one of the largest bamboos grown in the Pacific Northwest and BC with culms 50 feet tall and up to four inches wide. If you want a bamboo forest, this is is your plant! It is thought that this is the true species from which black bamboo originated. ‘Henon’, however, has green culms that age to a distinct olive grey colour. The small leaves produce a giant, feathery, layered leaf pattern that is most beautiful.
