Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Blue Jean Baby’ is a fragrant, early blooming, vigorous and shorter selection of the Russian sage. It has bright green foliage and airy lavender blue flowers from midsummer with purple calyxes that extend colour appeal well into mid fall. Growth habit is 28 to 34 inches tall with a 36 inch spread. Does best in hot conditions forming a lovely haze of colour at the front to middle of the border. Tolerantes dry climates and is very cold hardy. Attracts hummingbirds and pollinators. Deer resistant.

Native Habitat:  Native to southwestern and central Asia and parts of eastern Europe. The harsh habitats it prefers are comparable to the sagebrush steppe of North America. It is found in steppes and on hillsides, and grows at higher elevations in mountainous regions, including the Himalayas. May be an indicator species for soils with low calcium availability.
